A Career Built at the Highest Level

Mathieu Fenasse Biography

Before becoming a coach, I competed on international professional tours for over ten years. This on-the-ground experience now forms the foundation of my approach and my understanding of top-level golf.

« These achievements represent years of hard work, adaptation, and learning at the highest level. »

My Journey, My Story

01. Believing in Your Destiny

The first tournaments were coming up… In June 2006, after two qualifying events (Albi and Bigorre), I finished first in the Regional Merit competition. But this success meant much more than a trophy: it was a pivotal encounter.

Charles Bellan, a professional golfer from Saint-Gabriel, contacted my family and offered to mentor me in addition to the training at the center.

Under his guidance, and inspired by his experience as a former professional player, I progressed rapidly and reached a high amateur level.

02. The Time to Choose

The decisive moment arrived: choosing between an ordinary life and a total commitment to golf. Sitting around a table, my parents simply asked me, “Mathieu, what are your golfing ambitions?”

My answer was immediate: “I want to be a professional player.”

In September 2009, we decided that I would continue my education through the CNED (distance learning), so I could train every day. At 17 years old, I made a clear choice: to dedicate my life to golfFrom then on, my daily life merged with my passion.

03. Education: A Priority

After graduating from high school with honors in June 2010, my parents and I decided it would be best for me to attend an American golf academy before going to college. My English needed to improve, and I wanted to raise my game to qualify for a Division I university. I chose the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy in Florida, a world-renowned institution for training young elite golfers.

My goals were clear: to refine my technique and mental game while immersing myself in American golf culture through local tournaments. I now have my ambition within reach: to join the professional tour in 2015.

04. The American Experience and Early Successes

In August 2011, my excellent results in FCWT tournaments earned me a spot on the “1st Team All-American,” after finishing 4th out of more than 800 players.

Shortly thereafter, the coach at Liberty University (Virginia) recruited me.

I continued my studies in Organizational Management while competing at the highest level of American collegiate golf.

In July 2013, after a successful second season and a victory at the Swiss Internationals (which opened the door to the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana), I began to be contacted by the French national team.

My goal became clear: to become the team’s number one player by the end of my third year.

05. The French National Team

In 2013, my strong results earned me a spot on the Pôle France training squad in preparation for the 2014 European and World Amateur Championships.

The French Golf Federation then registered me on the official list of elite athletes in the Senior category with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This status quickly led to action: I participated in the men’s “Thanksgiving” training camp in Orlando, alongside Barjon, Brun, Perez, Sordet, and Stalter.

In early 2014, I was invited to the Pôle France Terre Blanche training camp, then selected for the gathering of U.S. players in Dallas.

I would then represent France at the European Team Championships in Finland, a source of immense personal pride.

06. The Door to the Professional Circuit

After four years of college, I turned pro during the summer and received seven invitations to the Challenge Tour, granted by the Federation.

Despite a challenging start, this experience gave me a firsthand look at the very highest level of competition and confirmed my desire to be a part of it.

In 2016, I earned my card and secured my playing rights on the Pro Golf Tour (3rd division)
